TRI IN THE NEWS: FORMER GISD TEACHER PUBLISHES BOOK

From The Gladewater Mirror

Original article available here.

Eulalia Hill Allen, retired educator with the Gladewater Public School System, is announcing the release of a learning tool for children. "R" is for Rainbow, encourages little learners to be excited about learning to read, create, and identify colors. From pre-school to second grade, children will be inspired to gain knowledge of color names, how to artistically mix colors and to read rhymes that encourage reading. The book is illustrated by Allen's granddaughter, Holly Hill May, an English teacher in upstate New York.

Mrs. Allen dedicated this book to her ten great-grandchildren. Allen says that she was inspired by a quotation from John W. Whitehead, "Children are the living messages we sent to the future, a time we will not see." A copy of "R" is for Rainbow has been donated to the Lee Public Library in memory of Allen's late husband, Rev. Garfield Hill, Principal of Weldon School from 1953-1969.
