John W. Whitehead Selected for Toastmasters Region VIII

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- John W. Whitehead, president of the Charlottesville-based Rutherford Institute, has been named the recipient of the Toastmasters Region VIII 2006 Communications and Leadership Award. The Communications and Leadership Award will be presented to Mr. Whitehead during the Toastmasters Region VIII Conference on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the Communications and Leadership Award Luncheon. Mr. Whitehead will be accepting the award in person and speaking to the attendees on the issue of "What It Means to Be a Patriot."

The purpose of the Toastmasters Leadership Award is to "recognize individuals outside of Toastmasters whose efforts positively impact the local community through their leadership abilities and their use of communication skills." Mr. Whitehead has been selected for his continued efforts to lead and communicate on a local and national level. Mr. Whitehead has debated the tough issues in the public sphere, especially for people who are often considered an "underdog." The Toastmasters conference is being held June 8-10 at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville.
